Rising sophomore Paula Gil-Echevarria ran a personal best 10:17.17 in the steeplechase to qualify for the finals at the IAAF World Junior Championships Thursday, July 24

The men ranked third in the country while the women ranked ninth.

The school-record holder will first compete on Tuesday at 5:35 pm PT.

Paula Gil-Echevarria will represent Eastern Washington University and Spain later this month at the World Junior Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., after winning her country s steeplechase title last weekend.
